How Dewey's Pizza Came to Life

Dewey's pizza began with a simple belief: great pizza deserves real ingredients, bold flavors, and a whole lot of heart. Our deweys signature recipes have been delighting guests in United States since 1998.

Founded by Dewey himself in a small kitchen on the north side of Worthington, Ohio, what started as a neighborhood gem quickly became a community landmark. Word spread fast — the hand-tossed crust, the scratch-made sauces, and the toppings sourced from trusted local farms set dewey's apart from the very first slice.

Today, Dewey's pizza is more than a restaurant. It's a gathering place where families celebrate, friends reconnect, and pizza lovers discover something genuinely different. Every pie that leaves our kitchen carries the same care and craftsmanship that Dewey poured into that very first batch.

Our Journey

A Quarter Century of Pizza Perfection

From a humble Worthington kitchen to a beloved Ohio institution — here's how dewey's pizza wrote its story one slice at a time.

1998

The Very First Slice

Dewey opens the original pizzeria on N High St in Worthington, Ohio. Armed with a family recipe, a wood-fired oven, and a dream, the first day sells out before 7pm.

2003

First Regional Award

Deweys pizza wins "Best Independent Pizza" at the Ohio Restaurant Association Awards — the first of twelve industry recognitions and the moment that put dewey's on the regional map.

2008

Expanded Kitchen & Team

Growing demand leads to a full kitchen expansion. The team grows to 30 members. Dewey's launches its first catering service, bringing the dewey's pizza experience to weddings and corporate events.

2014

Local Sourcing Pledge

Dewey's formalizes its farm-to-table commitment, partnering with six Ohio-based farms for produce, cheese, and meats. The pledge becomes a cornerstone of the deweys brand identity.

2019

Online Ordering Launch

Dewey's pizza goes digital — launching online ordering and delivery across the Worthington area. The platform processes over 10,000 orders in the first three months alone.

2024

26 Years & Still Rising

Celebrating 26 years of handcrafted pizza excellence. Dewey's pizza serves its 500,000th pie, launches an expanded menu, and continues its mission to be the community's favorite gathering place.
